VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

1.  Complete an official application:

New / first-year applicants should complete the New Volunteer Application and returning volunteers need to complete the Returning Volunteer Application.  Please select one of the following:

2008 New Volunteer Application              Word Doc Format           .PDF Format
2008 Returning Volunteer Application    Word Doc Format           .PDF Format

2.  Register for the shifts that you want to work:

The Volunteer Shift Registration Form is very important.  It indicates the specific dates, times and venues that you are available to volunteer.  Please make sure to indicate your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices of locations where indicated.  We would like to encourage you to enroll in four or more shifts during the Fair!

If you are unsure of your schedule in September at the time that you send in your Volunteer Application, you can wait and submit your Volunteer Shift Registration Form later.  All applicants will receive a Volunteer Shift Registration Form in late July to register if they have not yet done so.  This gives you the opportunity to make arrangements and set the time aside in your schedule. Please select one of the following:

Volunteer Shift Registration Form             Word Doc Format      .PDF Format

An important note concerning shift registration:  As can be expected, some venues and some shifts are more requested than others.  Consequently, volunteers requesting to work at only the most popular locations and shifts will not be assigned these requests exclusively.  While turning in your Shift Registrations early will give you priority – it does not automatically guarantee your assignments.  Although every attempt will be made to give volunteers their first choices, this is not always possible.  Therefore, volunteers are required to indicate their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices of location (or indicate that you have no preference) when requesting to volunteer for Guest Services and Hospitality venues.

3.  Return the forms as early as possible!

This not only helps us to ensure that all of our spots are covered, it also helps to ensure that you get the volunteer position you most enjoy.  Positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please note that requesting a specific location, date, time does not automatically guarantee your assignment.  Although every attempt will be made to give volunteers their first choices, this is not always possible.

4.  Attend Volunteer Training and Orientation:

All volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory orientation and training session that will be held just prior to the Fair.  Attendance at this meeting is critical in order to receive the information necessary to perform your volunteer duties.  Your parking pass, t-shirt and gate admission ticket(s) will be available for pick up at the orientation meeting. (First year volunteers will receive a ticket for their first shift at orientation.  They will receive their other tickets at the end of their first shift.)

5.  Don’t miss any of the fun - sign up now!

Once we have received your application, we will add you to our mail list and you will begin to receive more information as well as invitations to up-coming meetings and events.

6. Return your Application, Shirt Request and Shift Registration Forms to:
